Wow! What kind of slow-ass lines do you people in Australia have to suffer with?
Thats ridiculously slow. :(
Mine connection would take around 14 hours, but we have adsl 2+ now which is up to 24mb/sec. Can't wait to upgrade
This movie store is all exciting and all, but with out world stores, it will be the US who will be enjoying it :(

If Apple moved to America then I'd have to stop buying their products. They're already quite expensive now. If that price jumped up then I'd just buy a competitors product instead.
Infact one has to wonder if there are more US nationalists than people who like cheap products. Somehow I don't think it'd involve a narrow margin.
Right now Apple products are priced well and their production quality is very high. Why would we need to change that?

just signed up. the whole process is actually really easy. i was up and running within seconds. i've been buying all my music from amazon for years now, and having the convenience of your digital music automatically sync'd up to your personal locker is great. it even scanned my 104GB music collection within 2 mins! pretty cool

Apple did not sue. They made a request to Toyota, and Toyota valuing income and a business partnership, made the decision to stop what they were doing. No lawsuit involved.
Go ahead and jail break you device, it doesn't really matter if you do. But the problem is not about the end user here, which as the right to jailbreak, the issue is with business entities engaging in facilitating a jailbreak such as what Toyota did.
No they didnt. They ruled that distributing custom (jailbroken) firmware wasnt in violation of copyright law.
Apple cant sue people who jailbreak or distribute jailbreaks for copyright infringement. They can, however, still try to prevent people from jailbreaking.

How am I suppose to access my music via cloud via 3G? Especially if one has tiered data?
And, why would they sell iPhone 5 without iOS 5? Thats just ...

Apple is extremely proactive. Which means they have a plan in place. When competition does something good that fits with their plans, then Apple can add it as a line item to their existing plans and assign it to a specific iOS release.
The competition on the other hand is defining their plans and goals completely based on what Apple does or what Apple's critics are saying. They do not have a very long-term vision of where they want to be and are by-and-large reactionary to what Apple is doing.
I will say that Google does indeed have a long-term vision, but not for Android's features. Google's long-term vision is to do anything they can to ensure they sit in between the user and the information on the Internet so they can advertise to them. They see Facebook as a major threat in this regard as well as Apple. Google's long-term plans are being disrupted by these other major players. Android/Honeycomb is a reactionary attempt to correct for some of that.
The day Apple starts competing against other companies is the day Apple products will stagnate. Apple does best when they compete against themselves. You don't win by doing what others do; You win by remaping the industry. (Perhaps Google and RIM need to stop competing against Apple and do something different.)

I would like the same specs but 2x batt life.
Get a battery pack to charge it at some point. The iPhone 4 is pretty high up on the scale of battery life among smartphones. I don't think it's going to increase because we all seem to be happy with this general battery life area.
They can keep the form factor, just give us a bigger screen. Stretch it to the bezel.
That thing is dying for a 4", hell even a 3.7" screen.
No. Don't stretch to the bezel, unless the bezel is getting bigger, which is the same bloody thing as making a bigger phone. I don't want the screen at the edge of the phone, and nobody makes this, for good reason. You have to be able to hold onto something on the phone. Really.
This update is not good enough, apple. Do more.
8 megapixel camera with 1080P recording.
1080p recording has nothing to do with the camera. It is 2592x1936 on the iPhone 4, so 1080 is possible.
You're a ****ing idiot. I'm not acting as if I were entitled to anything, I'm just pointing out that a large part of the world doesn't give a crap about 2-year contracts. My upgrade cycle for iPhones is every 12 months, and the same goes for most people I know.
So, we aren't allowed to talk about contracts? On the internet? Because you might come by and read about it? Yes, that is what "entitlement" is, get over yourself and skip over the posts that don't apply to you. Christ, esp when it is a positive for you.

So, what is Apple doing with a bunch of 7" touch screens, since Jobs said "7 inch tablets are dead on arrival"?
I also don't recall RIM ever giving a date before April 19th.

Also, how will they distribute the download? Will the file be an ISO or DMG file? How do you install it from that file?
I don't think it will change from the developer preview. Download an installer, double click, run and restart. (As I said above, hopefully with the added ability to make a hard backup without Disk Utility.)
Everything I heard said this image is not bootable nor usuable as a recovery media/installation media.
It's bootable (the, ahem, pirated versions of Lion are distributed as dmgs.)

I just bought the iPhone 4 and to be honest, I don't even feel an ounce of disappointment that I could've waited a 5 months for the iPhone 5. I am so thrilled with the iPhone 4 and its capabilities. I've never run into any issues with the external antennae.. I dunnno. I'm a long time diehard apple fan.
Sorry if this seemed a bit irrelevant, just wanted to throw my two cents in.

as per this news of perhaps no ipod and a 70% chance of other core 2 duo update action, we have much to look forward to not only at the wwdc, but also after that. if everything were spelled out for us this conference, we would have such a dry spell till holidays or until leapard or until ultralight mac or something else. i am rather glad that apple does not update everything with the speed of a recital.

Yet you haven't convinced many here. Doesn't that indicate that perhaps you need to address it again, and perhaps find other ways to illustrate your point? It's not like I'm unwilling to be convinced. I just haven't heard a good reason to accept your argument.
Well, if you guys agreed with me then I would have to rethink my position. :D
It's kind of a prerequisite for a collapse that 99% of the population is unprepared.

I believe it. Makes perfect sense. The iPhone 4 is an awesome phone so it doesn't need much improvement. A little power under the hood combined with a iOS update and the thing will continue the trek of top of the smart phone market.
Agree. The phone is quite elegant, great fit/finish and style. More capacity & power always welcome.
I would very much like to see the 'expansion' of interactive real estate via printed-looking e-ink navigation icons on the bezel. I have loved that idea since someone in this forum mentioned it.

Well they are not really french:

Right. That's the irony of it.
Or megaWatts. Look into large generators and data center infrastructure.
Okay. 'No one' was a hyperbole.
Gosh, I can't get anything past you guys today! ;)

And here we go again with the whole Retina Display argument. We are all witnesses to the iPad 2. It is simply not economically feasible at the time. All this is pointing to is a screen resolution that is larger than the 30" that was discontinued or a 30" with this resolution as the 27" had taken over that space. People here jumping up and down over Retina this and that, give it a rest, by the time its actually released your eyesight will be poor enough that it might actually make a minor difference if any. ;):D

That would be cool, though I'm still not sure why MobileMe is so useful, all in all it's just wireless syncing over the internet right? Like when you add an iCal event on your iPhone, it appears on your computer without having to connect the cable?

Hmmm... I think I'll go jailbreak my iPod touch now.
Maybe then I can get a toggle switch for wifi on my home screen.
SBSettings.
Toggles for settings that you can get to with a single swipe across the status bar.

Firstly, your perspective would change completely if you ever decide to invest or trade.
Sounds like a good reason to avoid it.
Why focus your perspective on gaining wealth?
Aren't there more important things than that in our brief lives?

The plant with mass rates of suicide is in China.
Yep, the plant with the 'mass rates of suicide' (which are lower than both the national rate, and the rate in areas similar to that plant), is in China. (It's amazing how memes stick around and get repeated in spite of the fact that they aren't supported by any data.)
