I think it's actually true. It just seemed more casual/fluffy than our usual front page stories, which is why it got to page 2.

The only time a full version is needed is when a new computer is purchased and then the price for Vista is completely different because of the OEM pricing by the vendor.
Not so much "different" as hidden from the ultimate consumer.
I think you're also forgetting that the current version of OSX is included with every Mac.

Well since Windows has about 95% of the market, which don't include the bootcamp users, I thinking a lot of people will be.

If apple does this right, it would be awesome. A screen similar to the sony ereader for reading and widescreen for movies.Yeah this would be a killer application and open up a whole new world of remote reading. Imagine having a whole ton of books including illustrations and graphics in that little iPod Video. Wow. :eek: :cool:

The current camera on the iPhone 4 is stellar IMO and many others... an equal 8MP camera would be even better....

With the millions of these the iphone takes maybe adding the millions the ipad2 would use is beyond the current capacity of their manufacturers?
Or, if production capacity would have meant to introduce the ipad2 later, they used what was available at the time.
As for $ 5 more, multiply that with the amount of devices they make and it's millions of dollars. In any company a net cost of $ 5 doesn't stay that way. It gets multiplied up to retail.

If it's shipping in June, even June 30, how can it not be near final form? I mean when a developer tells me s/w is "nowhere near final form" I'm thinking early beta at best. But 2.5 months from release (assume June 30) shouldn't it be in the bug testing phases and everything else locked up?
Because the version that was showed last night isn't even the most up-to-date. It has been said that they have already re-worked a lot of things that aren't in the latest version. That was probably just a stable version they got out the door for a preview.
I don't know how much they're going to fit in the next few months, but we'll see.

My two cents:
Glasses-free 3D in its current iteration seems hardly more than a gimmick. Viewing angles are bad, viewing distance is wacky, and it causes headaches after prolonged use. Not to mention the tech required increases the thickness of the panels.
For Apple to implement this type of technology, it would probably need to develop an in-house solution (or at least something after close corroboration with another company). Since few - if any - rumors to that effect have surfaced, it seems reasonable to believe that any such venture is at the very least not particularly close to fruition.
And even assuming they had the propriety tech, I agree with many others on this forum who believe the implementation would increase the price fairly dramatically. My guess is that Apple will strive to maintain their competition-bustingly low prices.

Plenty of people buy Macs for the hardware. If I needed a laptop right now to run Windows and nothing else, then obviously I would have to check whether I am mentally capable of using Windows for any length of time without throwing the laptop out of the window, but once I've found the strength to do that, the 13" MBP or one of the MBAs are probably the least miserable way to run Windows.
Your statement makes no since. Windows is a hardware dependent OS. If you have the hardware it will run. Buying a 400 dollar Hp is different then running it on a 800 ASUS. You are use to using low grade windows computers. I use Both macs and Highgrade windows based PCs (ASUS & Sony) I see no issues with any of them. Some one game me an HP and it was a piece of ****. I am using an ASUS board right now and I am in LOVE with it.

Its something to do with apple TV's upgrade. I am guessing it will be totally wireless in terms of being able to buy content from the box itself. ala iPhone music store. That coupled with affordable and vast library of movie rentals.
Please god I hope so... a completely new :apple:TV would be a PITA as a decent layer of dust has not yet settled on mine!
Cutting through my own hypocrisy however, I'd personally (along with half the worlds geeks) love for it to be iPhone 2.0... 3G, 16/32 Gb and integrated satnav from Garmin... sorry 1.0 peeps :o
