Well no luck finding a 16GB AT&T Black in the south jersey area. None of my local stores had any stock :(

Sucks that these companies used the iPad just to get people in the door, even though they knew that many of their stores would not have any to sell.

    That's funny.

I would've returned the wife before the iPad. Those are easier to find.

no kidding, I didn't have to wait in a line for 13 hours to get the chance to buy a wife, just for her dad to tell me sorry she's sold out and to try again tomorrow.

    Is the iPad 2 Wifi modelnumber 2,1? (or 2,2 / 2,3?)

    iPad 2 WiFi - 2,1
    iPad 2 AT&T - 2,2
    iPad 2 Verizon - 2,3

Although I never had a RSS, I did apply the update.
I'm curious about those temps you are mentioning though.

I have CoreDuoTemp installed and it shows 57C without doing anything fancy! Just Mail.app and Safari are open and I haven't done any serious work in the meantime.

    34C seems kinda low :/

I'm curious. Anybody know where all that money goes? How much does Apple (the computer company) get vs. music companies vs. the two remaining Beatles? I heard that Michael Jackson owned the rights to a lot of Beatles songs - and now he's gone too. Any place this can be looked at?

    Rich

Thats a good point! I know Jacko had out bid McCartney on the rights to the Beatles songs but i too wonder who owns them now?

Plus (i could be wrong) Simon "Money Whore" Cowell has his fingers in Sony who co-own the rights to The Beatles catalogue!?

    Don't quote me on that.

Sony & the Jackson estate own the publishing rights for a lot of the Beatles songs.

The Beatles and EMI own the recordings.

Sony & Jackson (& Cowell ?) don't make anything from the Beatles sales on iTunes. They do get paid for the performances on the X-Factor (this is shared with the song writers).

The Beatles and EMI are the big winners and Apple haven't done too bad. :)

Adobe is not making any new fans with this scheme. I went from MX Studio 2004 to CS4 to CS5, and they cant even give me a free minor update? Either it it has enough new features to release it as a major update, or it doesn't.

I've given them a lot of money over the years, and they can't even give me a free minor update?

Now the question is when will the line start forming for the keynote this year?

Last year a few people were already standing in line the night before(I think around 9pm). My guess is if Steve is going to be part of the keynote this year people will be there even earlier.

I've never seen an iBook that looked grey even after all the scuffing. I've got an iBook and it still looks white under all lighting conditions.

u must take really good care of yours. ive seen many people around campus whose iBooks have turned an odd shade of grey or brown...i guess dirt gets caught in the scratches

Well I'm not a MAC expert by any means but here's a thought.

I've built many PCs and none of the heatsinks that ship from AMD or Intel have had heat sensors or wires on them. The only wires are for monitoring the RPM of the fan which is attached to the top of the heatsink.

The CPU has its own temperature monitoring and doesn't depend on the heatsink.

Maybe the thermal sensors on the heatsink are not needed completely or at all? The initial solution, before new firmware was available, was to simply replace the heatsink, but now they can safely ignore the short?

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.

As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others. Although we don't need religion to teach people morals, we need some agreed upon code of conduct.

You might say that the laws of a country serve that purpose, but they don't. They are simply rules everyone must follow and any despotic ruler can set awful laws that can hurt people. Therefore, the code of conduct has to be separate from the law.

If atheism has any future, its needs some type of unified, agreed upon code.

Religion doesn't have an agreed upon code of conduct. Morals don't stem from religion! People use their morals to pick the best bits of religion to act on. Morals are actually much deeper than that- some other primates have been shown to exhibit different levels of morality.

blah, I don't want to chew through my data plan, and wait for the update to download with over the air updates.
I'd be happy if I could just do them over my own WiFi... and sync over WiFi while I'm at it.

It seems to me that the "something in the air" is all the speculation about what will happen on the 15th. The internet is full of predictions and excitement.

I predict some sort of touch screen UMPC device, an updated mactv box allowing 1080p and wireless itunes movie rentals, and blu-ray drives on the new iMacs, Macbook Pros, and Macbooks, along with an even sleeker design. Whatever happens, I'm confident I won't be disappointed.

If apple does this right, it would be awesome. A screen similar to the sony ereader for reading and widescreen for movies.Yeah this would be a killer application and open up a whole new world of remote reading. Imagine having a whole ton of books including illustrations and graphics in that little iPod Video. Wow.

Doubt it, American labor unions will never allow that. haha. Plus, China won't have problems finding labor in the country.

    YEP!

Electronics manufacturers are not in China for cheap labor. The manufacturing process is so automated that there is very labor involved. They manufacture in China because of currency exchange rates, and because of lax environmental laws.

Really? So I guess the 920,000 people working at FoxConn are just standing around goofing off?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn

FoxConn has a net income of about 2.2 billion. Their gross revenues are about $59 billion. If each worker cost them just an extra $2,500 per year ($210 per month) they would be out of business and have to shut their doors.

And everyone here knows damn well that Chinese workers get paid much less than US workers, in other words doing FoxConn in a country with higher labor costs would mean that everything would cost a CRAP LOAD more money or it wouldn't get built to begin with.

    ----

As someone pointed out, Samsung may assemble SOME things in korea but individual components are often build elsewhere. Samsung also does a lot of Chinese manufacturing too. In fact, out of the Samsung devices I own they are all MADE IN CHINA too.

I hope that the screen is nice and easy on the eyes. The issues that I've had with devices that try to do this plus other features (i.e. like a palm device) is that: 1) the screens aren't big enough (the iPod mockups look like they will be OK) 2) scrolling is funky (fluid wheel scrolling could be accurate, fun and easy to use and 3) staring at a bright screen for hours of reading is tough on the eyes and feels a little weird.

This is a pretty exciting feature though, can't wait!:D

This is awesome news. I said just the other day that I probably wouldn't buy a 23" iMac (though I would *look* at one) and I would probably just get a 23" ACD + Mac Mini instead... now that they've brought back the wall-mounting option I'm very tempted indeed. My current iMac G5 (rev B) is wall-mounted to save desktop space. The weight of the new 24" is about the same as the older 20" so that isn't an issue for my existing mount. Would just have to check that the position on the wall won't be too low.

I'm thinking of going away next week... if I weren't I'd have probably ordered one already!

Take a look at this comparison chart.

    http://www.zunescene.com/comparison/

Why dosn't the ipod connect to the Xbox marketplace? :p

and whats a "unique online tag"?

also look @ the official site:
    https://www.comingzune.com/
Strange thing making beeping noises. that 'cool'.

those sites are all run by MS.

the screen? same res as the iPod, so it will look crappy as the pixels will be stretched to fit the screen.

Event sells out when there are fewer seats. it could just be another strategy to create news. When you have too many empty seats, it does not look good for the the press nor the attendees.

A company would rather have a news that says "sold out" than too many left overs.

I'm not a big Halo fan (Well, I used to love Halo, but I haven't brought any games since Halo 2), so I probably won't be getting this unless it's for christmas or something. Will be sticking with COD: Black Ops.

Ah - but it isn't as many as 50 % of the gun crimes that are done by black men. This is just racist propaganda from a statistics-generator which has been pre-programmed to disfavour people with non-English names. The next statement will probably be that more than half of the honour killings in the United Kingdom are done by people from Pakistan or Arab countries, which will be just as absurd. In some cultures, it's acceptable (or even expected) to use violence to get what one wants, and we have to tolerate each other as we are. Dialogue and Understanding.

If these reports turn out to have any basis in reality, please let's not hear any more complaining about how expensive OSX is.

My $129 dollar investment in Leopard is going to look like even more of a steal ... :D
