Does anyone know more about the FB-dimm memory used on the mac pro? from what I know its still ultra new, and only used by intel on their xeon line. Shouldn't this mean supper expensive and rare memory???

It�s time to make a premium-priced high-capacity iPod touch instead; maybe 256 for some hair-raising price! Yes, HDs are cheap, but you have to make the transition some time! It could even be thicker if necessary; after all, the Classic is already a separate hardware design to build. (I might have suggested a thicker, hard-disk-based Touch, but I think iOS uses the drive in ways that would bog down hideously on a spinning platter. Hmmm... maybe a hybrid drive?)

It is still useless to make it available in other store if they can not supply enough for peoples demand.
Apple store, Target, Walmart and Best Buy to name a few is enough to carry Apple products. Just make sure you have TONS of stock on each outlet and consumers are satisfied.

for a designer with such a relationship with typefaces as yours you should know that Apple's usual font is Myriad Set and that this is in fact a version of Myriad Set, just the rarely used 'light' version

The Mach Dice (http://appshopper.com/games/mach-dice) app has been showing me 3D movement for years, using the accelerometer. It's a cool effect.

Just a heads up, Best Buy got into a bit of trouble for holding inventory and were told by apple to sell ipads if were in stock. Good luck finding any tomorrow....

I can offer a reason as to why some Mac Pro models don't have BT or Airport Extreme, a great deal of the corporate market don't want their machines to be equipped with them.
The company I work for will not purchase any machine with Bluetooth as it represents a risk to our highly confidential data. We could not allow a security vulnerability in a Bluetooth stack to allow security to be compormised or indeed just a rogue employee using BT to transfer data to a cell phone or other device.
Same goes for WiFi, although for some reason we don't see that as being that high a threat (Hey I don't make the rules I just have to follow them!)
This could be why the top end model is sans Bluetooth and WiFi, to keep the Corporate market sweet.
Just my 2 cents anyways:D

Ditto. My poor 3G is one step away from being an ipod only... I hate that Apple has essentially bricked that phone. Mine is in great shape, but barely works after the 4.0 update. Retro would be ideal.
I've seen some 3G models that work great w/ 4.2.1 and some that don't. One was jailbroken, so I wrote that one off. The one thing I've seen that helped a s l o w non-jailbroken one was a double reset (force the phone to reboot, load, then force reboot once more). You could also do a complete wipe and see if it performs well before restoring your backup -and then do a piece by piece restore if that solved the issue.
I don't think 4.x is that bad for everyone on a 3G, but I have seen it in "slow mode"- and the people experiencing this are not making it up. It's -bad-. I wish there were a definitive fix other than trial and error as above and hoping you don't put something on your phone to cause it again...

Dell 2001FP on the left hooked up to my Win7 machine under the desk
Samsun SyncMaster 2494HS on the right, now connected to my MBP that is over on the left of the desk, using a standard PC keyboard and mouse with the MBP at the moment.
The little black keyboard is a USB with trackball hooked up to the Win7 machine.
So far this is an experiment to use my MBP as my primary machine rather than just a laptop, so far so good, have sorted most things out I think.
I will eventually get rid of the Dell and but the MBP on the stand and have the Win7 machine hooked up to the VGA input on the Samsung monitor
Also ignore the dust :)

My daughter needs to use a Mac for school work, but I simply cannot justify the $1k plus expense for a bottom of the line Mac Book.
I used to think the same way. 2 kids off to college, money is tight but I gave them each their choice of laptops:
1.) kid#1 chose a Dell because she <gasp> liked Vista :eek:
2.) kid#2 chose the plain old white macbook
3 years later, guess which one is currently crap? Seriously, Kid#1 comes home one day, opens up her Dell and she's got 3 keys missing one of which is the Enter key - has no clue where they went. :D Also, the battery is lasting a full 20 minutes and the DVD drive is kaput. The damn thing creaks and moans more than my arthritic joints.
Now, the lowly white macbook looks like it's been used as a door mat (which I polished up for kid #2 in about 5 minutes) but it works flawlessly.
Really... don't rationalize the cost. Kids are tough on these things and you aren't always there to "learn 'em" how to handle them. A well built mac + Applecare is a pretty secure future for their learning experience.

The Rolling Stones have been in the iTunes music store for over a year. The currently have over 59 albums there and a new ep was released, I'm Free, just a couple of weeks ago.
Frank Zappa was on iTunes last summer and has since been removed. It was basically the albums that RYKODisc had re-mastered and released. There appears to be something going on with the Zappa Family Trust and RYKODisc over the rights.
Led Zepplin has never appeared on iTunes. However, Radio Head was on for a short time, but everyone who like Radio Head has already bought their one good album, The Bends.

My C2D 17" blew up over 2 months ago. I've been using this old PC with Ubuntu on it for work. If OS X is American Idol, this is a bunch of drunken nerds on Karaoke night.
