Does iPad wifi and iPad 3G use the same update file or do I need to download twice?
Already got iPhone to do so 3 iOS downloads would be nice to avoid!
Why would you want to download instead of using iTunes. It will download and install the right update file for each device. No worries. Based on the varying file sizes being reported here, there are obviously different builds for each device.

If this is the theme this year then it looks like wireless is the main product announcements. Unless they want to hide any reference to multi-touch.

I didn't even notice the 1GB standard RAM until you mentioned it... I hope this ushers in a change for the other pro models...
Perhaps Mac Pros don't come standard with 1GB RAM because they are supposed to be super configurable, and Apple assumes more RAM will be added anyway?
The Mac Pro does come standard with 1GB of RAM. You can't configure a model with any less than 1GB of RAM.

Do atheists need their own bible?
In the beginning was the word and the word was... good? Four hundred years after the publication of the King James Bible, philosopher AC Grayling has written a book which offers atheists a "bible" of their very own.
In The Good Book, Professor Grayling attempts to whisk together in one tome the wisdom of Ancient Greek philosophers, Confucian sages, medieval poets and the discoveries of modern science.
Without any reference to gods, souls or afterlives, it aims to give atheists a book of inspiration and guidance as they make their way in the world.
In place of the more well-known Ten Commandments, his atheist principles are: "Love well, seek the good in all things, harm no others, think for yourself, take responsibility, respect nature, do your utmost, be informed, be kind, be courageous."
BBC link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9446000/9446028.stm)
If I buy a copy it'll be more out of curiousity than any inner need to find meaning and guidance.
Perhaps it'll just be a potted guide to world philosophy with some science thrown in Bertrand Russell teaming up with Carl Sagan? ;)

What makes it a piece of ****, exactly? The issues it had early on that were fixed with the software update? It's much more superior in every way to the 3GS than the 3GS was to the 3.
Hmm. I thought I covered this already.
Well, the screen issues were definitely not fixed by a software update. So that's a no go. The proximity sensor issue may have, but if you read my post far back enough you will see I'm discuss why I didn't buy the iPhone 4 while it was new... and I won't buy it now because.. it's old.
Oh.. but I think the update you have in mind is where apple fixed their hardware folly with a software patch. Right. They adjusted the bars so you would actually have to be receiving little or no coverage to only display one bar.
Your right, forgot they fixed the antenna with a software band-aid.

agreed... and even if this wireless sync comes to existance it will be a waste. I'd way rather have a thunderbolt connector on the next set of iDevices than wireless sync. No point in being wireless if i have to leave it on a charger so the battery isn't half dead 3 hours later when it's done syncing. Why people would prefer that is beyond me :D
Well if i only needed few hundreds of MB of data and stuf like calendars and contacts or emails to sync it's a nice addition. That's basically what i would use it for.

I just don't see that happening, even if they have an optical drive in it. Apple is content with the portable line as it is, and the MacBook is pretty compact already. Plus, I don't see Apple using a smaller widescreen than 13.3".
Apple content with portable line?!? I seriously doubt that - Jobs has repeatedly mentioned they have a *lot* of stuff in the pipeline.
And I don't see how you can say that Apple wouldn't go smaller than 13.3" widescreen. If Apple previously had a *non* widescreen 12" PowerBook, why on earth would they be opposed to having at least widescreen 12" laptop? I mean a 12" widescreen display is superior in almost every respect to a non-widescren 12" display. It's better not only for movie viewing but also in my experience for surfing the web, document, editing, etc. (can fit more text in one line, and scrolling vertically is more common/natural than scrolling horizontally).
So that's actually why I think a 10.6" widescreen is viable. Apple previously had a non-widescreen 12" PowerBook, and a 10.6" widescreen display is almost the same width...

Android Phone Specs are out pacing the Iphone. An 8 Megapixel camera, bigger screen and more memory will keep me buying. IOS 5 with the rumored adobe flash would be great too.
Sorry dude, but Flash has NEVER been rumored to be on anything iOS at any point. Jobs has taken a stand that it is not appropriate to include it because it is too flawed and Adobe takes too many short cuts in producing their various versions. Something that has been confirmed by comments from Adobe's own people and various designers that work with it.
All too often they take one more or less working version or anything and slap on porting code and call it a day. Which something high powered like a Mac computer might be able to handle but a mobile device with a much lower processor and ram can't. This is a major reason why all those Android devices that were marketed as "with Flash" haven't added it yet. It doesn't work on their stuff either
This is what Jobs was talking about when he called Adobe "lazy". They need to sit down and rewrite all their stuff top to bottom in native code for the system it is supporting. That is the only way to truly have efficient code with reduced risks of security issues, crashing etc.

I, too, have a number in the range affected but am getting turned down by the website. Interestingly, when I changed the last letter of the serial number I entered from "a" to "b," it was accepted! I am wondering whether in fact not all batteries in the range are being recalled and Apple is just doing a bad job of communicating (as someone on Macintouch suggested).

(ahem) There IS a difference. Photoshop is far more advanced that Pixelmator for P-R-O-F-E-S-S-I-O-N-A-L work. It has a deeper set of tools and features available.
And some of them even work properly :-)

I have noticed on our campus that the percentage of Apple computers is increasing. I also noticed a lot of Apple Computers when I traveled through O'Hare this week.
I suppose part of that is you can tell which computers are Apples from quite a distance, but not really tell the difference between HP and Dell.

In red is your problem. In marriage you're a unit; there is no "your" money or "my" money.. it's "our" money. If there are things more important to the unit than an iPad (I can think of many, many possibilities), then you're contorting the wife's stance unfairly.
And, just for the record, for the women/wife bashing that's happened in the thread I'd like to point out that it can go both ways. I'm a wife and we were standing in line on launch day for ME.. my husband would never have blessed the purchase if it came from joint funds. This is the beauty of separate "fun" accounts. An allowance per se for each of us, free from the negotiations that happen from joint accounts (and to anyone that argues that it's ridiculous that big purchases from joint money have to be discussed is going to be in for a rude awakening come marriage, IMO). More couples should have 'em.
Thank you! Applies to marriages of any gender, mixed or same. OUR money. A marriage is a team, and that's the only hope it has of lasting. If you don't intend for it to last, then there's no point in doing it in the first place.
The "wife" says no? For "wife" substitute "husband" or "partner"...still valid for one member of the marriage to vote "No". (Apple seems to have waged a successful campaign in the election.) :apple:

How about, "we want to invest in the US!"
Sheeeez!
There should be a law that states anytime a US company chooses to manufacture something outside the US, the company must post a clearly-articulated-less-than-25-page document stating AND COMPARING why the US is unable to manufacture said product.
Dang Chinese US companies!
And we wonder why this country is broke.
Flat tax across the board. I love Apple, but when a company can spend billions to open a plant in another country just to skirt taxes, there is a problem.
So the US should penalize a Chinese company for building a plant in Brazil? Good luck with that.

This is getting closer to an iPal - a handheld computer that does it all. That is my next purchase. It needs to be small but with a full screen and real-world-rugged. Will Apple release it this year?

Strangely, the iTunes update was the best thing to come out of the announcements for me today.
Updated regular iPods- Meh
Updated iPod Nanos-Why didn't they just come out with a flash based Mini last year?
Updated Shuffle-New form factor..nothing really new though...
Selling Movies-BLAH...Too expensive and no rental option...who cares
iTV-Somewhat interesting but without cheaper movies/rentals I'm not sure I would use it. I don't know that I want to rip all of my DVDs to take advantage of it.
iTunes Update!!!-Woohoo! Many of the complaints of users are addressed and several slick new features! Probably the best iTunes update in two years IMO!!
